Intro to Sublimation: Mugs

Intro to Sublimation: Mugs In-Person

Intro to Sublimation is a series of craft projects that will use the library’s Cricut machines to showcase the versatility and resilience of sublimation printing. Making custom mugs is easy and fun!

A sublimation printer works similar to any other inkjet printer, except it uses sublimation ink and paper. Sublimation inks evaporate when heated. The evaporated ink then bonds to polyester and poly-coated materials called “sublimation blanks” or “substrates.” The result is a high-quality full color design that is embedded in the substrate (permanent and washable) rather than laying on top like a vinyl transfer.

Print logos, photographs, or text. If you can print it on a “normal” printer, then you can print it on a sublimation printer! A sublimation printer can be used with a heat press to make custom shirts, aprons, mugs, coasters, stickers, puzzles, and more.
